«Analysis of the green space programme in Greater Tunis»
Abstract
The green space programme in Greater Tunis is mainly set within urban development
plans, In Greater Tunis, most of the 32 communes have their own plans.
In this paper, we study the effects of the green spaces scheduling according
to different urban development plan. We analysed two elements which are:
the geographical and typological distribution of green spaces within the
Greater Tunis and the characteristics of the fitting out of these spaces.
A geographical data base containing all the scheduled green spaces included
in the approved urban development plans has been used to analyse the typological
and geographical distribution of the green spaces. A sample of green spaces
has been analysed in the detail at the level of the development.
The main results show a disparity in this distribution especially the small
share allocated to the urban parks and the neighbouring green spaces in
some communes. The study of the characteristics of fitting out has shown
that the typology of the green spaces depends mainly on three factors which
are the way the green space is scheduled and performed afterwards, the land
and the initial vocation of the plot and finally the period of realization.
Key words : green space, urban planning, spatial distribution, fitting
